DIY Desk Vanity Project
A few months ago my trusty vanity decided it was no longer going to stand upright. I have had it since my early teens so I knew it was only a matter of time before it lost the battle of wear and tear, I just didn’t know when. I’m too much of a girl to go without a vanity so I did what any logical makeup hoarding woman would, I started shopping online. It didn’t take long before I gave up that adventure because vanities are anything but cheap. I didn’t want to spend hundreds on something that wasn’t a necessity so I decided I was going to use my cheap computer desk as a vanity.
I flipped a floor length mirror on its side and it worked great. It just didn’t look great. I’m not a difficult person, but I do like pretty things and this desk to vanity project was anything but pretty.
With a roll of contact paper and 15 minutes, I was able to completely transform the tops into something I was happy with. It looks brand new and it took minimal effort. Two things I really like!
I found this gorgeous marble contact paper on Amazon (affiliate link) and have sat on it for ages. I’m so glad I didn’t use it for anything else now, although it wouldn’t have been a big deal. It was only $15, which means I’m going to stock up on it now! I found the mirror at a garage sale last year for $1, and the desk I bought from Walmart for around $30.
If you have an old desk sitting around, this is a simple project that is sure to brighten your room! It’s a lot cheaper than buying a new vanity and you can go all out in making it over.
I really thought it was a marble desk if I haven’t read the message down the picture! That paper is amazing!!
I love this idea! That contact paper really makes a huge impact and I am ready to wrap my entire house in it now. I need to pick some of that up! So creative!
