Here’s how to make DIY Home Air Freshener

You’ll be making all of these infusions the same, so I’m just using the orange and clove as a base example. Scroll down to see even more great infusion ideas.

First things first, you need something to cook in. This can be a small, old saucepan, a small simmer pot or an old potpourri warmer. Whatever you can scrounge up, no need to go out and buy something just for this.

Now let’s gather the ingredients for our DIY home air freshener. To make the orange & clove simmer we’ll need 3 – 5 oranges, about 1 tablespoon of cloves (whole or ground – up to you) and 1/2 cup of water to start with.

First peel the oranges, eating or reserving the fruit. Then carefully bend and ply the peels to get those juices flowing.

*We don’t want them spraying everywhere, just loosen them up.

Drop them into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the cloves on top and cover with the water.

Set the heat to medium and wait for the aroma to start filling the room. Once you can smell the orange and clove infusion it’s time to

a.) reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer

– or –

b.) transfer the mixture to another vessel like a simmering pot or potpourri warmer

Whichever method you choose, be sure to keep the water level at least 1/4 inch – we don’t want to burn the ingredients or the pot!
