Electrical Wiring and Repair

Some electrical jobs aren’t too hard, and we are even taught some in school, such as changing a plug. But for anything more complicated than that, it is best that you call a trusted electrician. Messing around with the electricity in your home, or even on a single device, is extremely dangerous. Of course, there is the risk of getting an electric shock. But you could accidentally leave a bare wire exposed, and this can cause an electrical fire under the right conditions.

Gas Fitting and Parts Replacement

Like electrics, you should also never attempt to do any kind of gas fitting in your home or mess around with appliances that rely on gas. Your boiler is a perfect example, and doing anything to a boiler without proper certification is illegal in most places. This is mainly because you can cause a carbon monoxide leak if you do something wrong. Carbon monoxide is undetectable by the human nose and will cause a sickly and terrible death over a couple of hours of inhaling.

Jobs to NEVER Do Yourself Includes Tree Removal

It can be fun, rewarding, and even pleasant to get in the garden and trim the hedges. But these are relatively harmless and aren’t likely to cause any injury or damage if they fall onto you. But trees are another thing altogether. Cutting branches, stumps, and even trunks requires expert knowledge in tree removal. Unless you really know what you are doing, trees can be very unpredictable when they fall, which is why this is one of the world’s most dangerous jobs.

Getting Rid of Pests

Placing a few mouse traps is one of the easiest things you can do for the odd little rodent. But other pests, such as cockroaches and bugs, require something stronger, such as poisons. So, of course, you should always consult a professional for anything more than a few mice. Misuse of common pest poisons is likely to cause severe damage to you and your family. There’s also the chance that kids can pick them up. So always play it safe with this one, or you may be sorry.

Any Kind of Asbestos Removal

Asbestos is a strange material and was used extensively in the 19th and early 20th centuries because it is fireproof. This is why it is found in many old public buildings such as schools, hospitals, and libraries. However, asbestos gives off spores when it’s broken, which settle in your lungs, causing mesothelioma, a type of cancer that can last for decades. It is so dangerous that you must be licensed to remove asbestos in some countries like the UK and USA.

Summary

DIY jobs to never do yourself include any kind of electrical wiring in your home. Gas fitting because of carbon monoxide, and removing any kind of asbestos from any kind of building.
