Music is such a huge part of life, so you want to hear it with the best quality possible. I should not have to tell you how disappointing it is to hear your favorite song playing through lousy speakers. If you are like me, you might get a little annoyed because they are doing the song such an injustice. Thankfully I do not have that problem anymore because now I have the JBL Charge 3 (provided for review purposes).
JBL Charge 3
The JBL Charge 3 is a waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker that is sleek and powerful. The powerful battery allows you to listen to crisp music for up to 20 hours without charging. Inside the box you will find:

My favorite feature is the bass. It is prominent but not like some other speakers where the bass sounds hollow or isn't there at all. It is intense but not overwhelming - just how it should be.
Pairing the Charge 3 with a phone, tablet, or any other music playing Bluetooth device is super easy and quick. Just press and hold the Bluetooth button found on top of the speaker. The Charge 3 will chirp, signifying it is searching for a compatible device. It chirps again once the devices successfully pair. No Bluetooth? No problem! With a 3.5mm male-to-male A/V cable, you can stream music directly from your computer or laptop.
If you are worried about your phone dying while you stream music, fret not. With the micro USB port and Type C USB port you can be charging your phone or tablet without interrupting playback. *Be sure to close the panel when you are not using the USB or A/V ports. Don't worry about draining the battery anytime soon. The powerful 6000mAh battery allows for up to 20 hours of continuous playback. You can visually track the life left in the battery with the row of 5 small LED lights just above the built-in rubber stand.
Aesthetically speaking, the Charge 3 is kind of sexy. It is rugged and sturdy, without a ton of flash. It is wrapped in a protective mesh fabric and comes in your choice of teal, gray, black, blue and red. The speaker is not tiny, nor is it huge. It is the perfect size for traveling and fits into a backpack with ease.
When you want even more power, you can use the JBL Connect App (available for Android & iOS) to link multiple compatible speakers. Just press the JBL Connect button and use the app to connect the devices. JBL Connect is perfect for parties when you want the DJ effect without paying for an actual DJ.
The top of the unit is where you will find the function buttons, including the JBL Connect button. See the photo below for button locations/functionality.
When you have your smartphone tethered or linked with the Charge 3, it can be used as a speakerphone. It has a built-in mic with noise and echo-cancelling technology that lets you talk and be heard with absolute clarity.
The feature that makes the JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth Speaker perfect for summer is its IPX7 rating. If you are not up to speed with International Protection Marking, this means the Charge 3 can be submerged in up to 1 meter of water, for up to 30 minutes, without losing functionality. Whether you are at the beach or swimming in the backyard, you will have high-quality tunes to keep you entertained. That is why my waterproof Charge 3 is poolside with me at all times.
