Finding Fun Activities & Making New Friends After Retirement Age
As much as I’d love to take my grandmother to a concert or some other fun {to me} outing, I know she wouldn’t enjoy it. Instead, I spend a lot of time browsing online and in print for fun activities she’ll enjoy. One of her favorites is a local tour group that schedules trips to fun places like New York, Dollywood, and Graceland. She hasn’t gone on any long-distance trips (yet), but they do offer local outings too, which she’s joined a few times.
If travelling isn’t in the cards, there are the old standbys like Bingo, line dancing, and even art classes. The possibilities are abundant, it’s just a matter of finding them.
One option that really piqued my interest was adult day care. It’s such a wonderful way for older adults to meet and mingle with their peers. It’s also a great way for a Caregiver to get some rest and take comfort knowing their loved one is in good hands.
As a Caregiver, it’s my job to research and find the best options available for my grandmother. That includes her Medicare coverage. There are many companies that offer the basics in health care coverage, but I want more than basic for my Granny. I want the best.
