Give Your Cat Freedom with a Cat Door

If you are a cat parent, then you know how much they love to be outside. Living in the country affords us the luxury of being able to let our fur babies roam free without much worry. It gets super annoying, though, when they want to come in and out, in and out, much like kids. Especially if you don’t have a cat door for the window.

The biggest difference is unless you have a pet door, you have to let them out and back in. The upside is you get a bit of exercise, but that’s about it for the positives. Life with cats is so much easier when they have their own cat door.

Our “Cat Sash” Cat Door from PetDoors.com (a cat door for windows) is the perfect way to give Phoebe his freedom without having to listen to his screeching meows to go outside. He can come in and out on his own, although we’re still working on the coming in part.

The best thing about this cat door is that I didn’t need any tools to install it. It slid right into my window, no assembly required. It even comes with a draft guard to make sure there are no open cracks. You can buy a lock for the cat door to control when your cat goes out, and to keep stray cats from coming in.

I use the cover that came with the door to keep Phoebe inside after dark. I think the lock would be easier since it does need some bending to get the cover on and off due to my window’s overhang.

It didn’t take Phoebe long to figure out how the door works. After headbutting the side windows a few times it clicked that the center was the way to go. Oh, that’s another thing I like about this cat door – it has 2 glass windows on either side of the flap. This lets your pet look outside, even if they don’t go out. The windows add a nice aesthetic touch.

The fact that the Cat Door for window isn’t physically attached to the window means I can move it to other rooms with no issues. It adjusts from 33″ to 38″ and may be customized to fit other window sizes! There are multiple flap sizes too, so if you have a fat cat like Phoebe there are no issues!

Is it Easy for a Cat to Use a Cat Door For Window?

Coming inside through the cat door is something Phoebe is still working on. When he’s ready to come inside, he’ll sit outside the window and meow. I have to open it to get him to peek his head through. I think we’re going to get some pet steps to help make it level on both sides. Overall, the Ideal Cat Sash Cat Door for Sash Windows from PetDoors.com has been an incredible gift for both Phoebe and me. I can’t recommend it enough and am already trying to decide which door to get next.
