Aicok Induction Burner – RV Kitchen Makeover

When I removed the propane stove from the RV I knew right away what I wanted to replace it with. I had already decided I wanted an induction burner to replace the propane stove. Not only do I feel safer using an induction cooktop vs gas, but I also save cooking time and gained a lot of counter space. The Aicok induction burner {I received a discount for review purposes} has been a wonderful addition to my DIY RV remodel, so much so I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But first, let me explain how induction cooking works.aicok induction burner

What is Induction cooking and how does it work?

Electromagnetic induction uses magnetism to generate electricity. Inside the induction burner is a tightly wound coil of metal. When you turn the power on, an alternating current goes through the coil to make an alternating magnetic field around it.

When you place an appropriate pan on the burner area, the magnetic field penetrates the internal iron. The magnetic field starts whirling electrical currents inside the pan, heating the contents of the pan via conduction. There’s a video that goes more in depth about how it works, but the general idea is electromagnetism.

It’s also important to understand that unless you have the right induction pots and pans, the induction burner will not work for cooking.

The picture above shows the Aicok error code E0, which is basically telling you that there’s not an appropriate induction pot or pan on the burner so it’s not going to work. The cooktop will automatically shut itself down after a short time of not having an induction pan on it.

The best way to know if a pan will work with an induction burner is to use a magnet. If a magnet sticks to the pan it will work with an induction burner.

Pans made from cast iron, stainless steel, enameled iron, and copper are good choices for quality and to ensure they’ll work with induction cooktops.

    1. If you hit select while the burner is on it will cycle to the temperature setting from the 1- 5 setting. From there you can adjust the temperature to the desired setting for whatever you’re cooking. I’d suggest trial and error at first, as induction heats fast (water boils within 3 minutes in a medium pot!). Or, if you’re following a recipe that calls for a certain temp. you could do that.
